Hate maple.lots of smoke and ashes without much heat.I use poplar(aspen) and spruce.Been buying firewood slabs(whatever is culled from the lumber sawing process)the last few years from a sawmill 20 miles away.Just can't compete with their price($40-$50 chord),can't cut my own for that price.
