If soil conditions are right, I don't think running a ripper that deep will create another hard pan deeper down. Now if its wet, you might be asking for problems.Rippers are best run when the ground is DRY and hard, dry and hard allows the ripper to shatter the compaction layer vs just cut a slot though it if its too wet.
