It made a Crop
The Twin has to yield more. Because there is more invested in it.
If I was to compare 36-40" corn to 30" and 20" corn I would not compare them I the same population. I'm looking at net return not just yield.

What I'd really like to see is Twin 36" corn compared to 30" single corn. Or 30 twin compared to 20" single. I would probaly plant them at the same population.
