scky | John vertical up is the approved procedure for a corner weld, it is the strongest and also the hardest to run. If you only have access to AC then I would use 6011 1/8 or3/32 rod and start at about 80-90 degree temp. and adjust as I got used to the weld. I start at the bottom with a single root pass by stacking the puddle, by this I mean move the rod up about 1/4 in and down to the puddle thus building and puddle that holds your weld in place. Then come back and make another pass by stacking 2 puddles on each side of the root pass, but doing this in one pass by moving across the root pass too each side of the first pass. Clean all slag from the root pass before trying the second pass.
I hope this helps but it may be more confusing than ever. Good luck Ttop | |
