Dry often gets the blame for the 30% number. However if you were to broadcast 10-34-0 the uptake would be no better than dry broadcast. I you were to broadcast PotCarb, the uptake would be no better than dry 0-0-60. That's why I usually support the idea of a good 6-24-6 in the seed trench, because a good one will give better results than most good 10-34-0. However, if someone is going to put a "P" product 2" away from the seed (2" x 2") they might as well use 10-34-0 and save the money. The different form can allow us to do something better, in a different way. But if all you want out of your product is another source of "P" (2" away), you might as well go cheap. At that point you have lost the advantage of a safer product closer to the seed. That's what the big bucks are supposed to buy for you, safety and a bigger bang for the dollar. Not all low salt products are safe on the seed. If that low salt product has a good deal of Urea in it, the safety just went out the window on lighter soils.
