Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning. | I guess I've always been way ahead of my time in some folk's eyes. Back in 1967, I got a greetings letter from my dear uncle. While doing his bidding, one of the places I went was to a little army base just outside of Columbus, GA. Since my real home was in the cold country of NE MT, I needed to plug my car in when it was cold and the heater cord hung out a little ways from the grill. When my wife was shopping one day, a sharp eyed Georgia local spotted the cord and inquired, "Is that one of them electric cars?" Of course it wasn't much of an electric car but still the tradition continues among many that have to start their outfit when it's bitter cold and it is very common that there are electric outlets for engine heaters in nearly every parking space at some motels in the cold country. Mostly, we just watch our step when navigating slippery walks and electric cords or in some cases, there are those who bail and flee the cold country every winter, as to avoid such unpleasantries. | |
