So now you're digging into where the materials are sourced, not the manufacturing. How deep do you want to go? This discussion could apply to anything manufactured.

Even then there are materials in the batteries that we just don't have. Lithium is one slice of the pie that we actually have a shot at and companies are working towards, but cobalt which is critical to the life and rate-of-charge of the battery simply isn't available in high quantities here. That said cobalt largely comes from the Congo and then gets refined in China, but from what I was reading there is a cobalt mine opening in the US. Ironically enough, that stock will be refined in Brazil.
