Would your brother agree to an arrangement where he keeps his half of the land for life and upon his death the land would go to you?
That way he would have it and have the income off of it but you know someday you will have it and never have to purchase it.
Why would he ever agree to that?
If half belongs to the brother, then the brother should get rent as long as he owns it and either sell it or leave it to someone else as he pleases.
