These deals are really tough to work though. One child works with the parents for years,keeping the farm running, maybe expanding and improving. Nobody else helps or has an interest in the hours needed or finances to move forward. Until mom and pop are gone, then they line up with their hand out expecting full market value. Not saying it shouldn't get split up but its truly life changing for the child who loses a life time of work. It has always stuck in my mind that if they want a share of life's work, let's add in all the income or assets and pension the other kids put in their own pocket, because they had the time and ability to make a living while the farm just seem to" grow" all on its own all these years. Could something like this ever make sense? Even if it did would the other kids cry foul because that's not " fair". Add the whole shebang up and divide it out that way. Is this to far fetched?
