It does work both ways but….I don’t know of a single first generation farmer in my area and in general I know they are the 1% or maybe less. There is a reason for that because it is nearly impossible to start from nothing and compete against guys born into it. So we will have to disagree because I stand by my comments.
I know several first generation farmers, and several more guys “born in to it” that split off and did their own thing because they were better off going it alone.
There have been more guys handicapped and eventually put out of farming by the “someday this will all be yours” line than it has helped.
