Macon, IL | That sucks. Been in similar situation-with older equipment of my own-not demo.
I don't see how Deere plays any role in this at all-if they want to give you a discount on work that's awesome-but may expect you to purchase the head?
Landlord-I guess for me would depend on the guy. Is he tightwad and high strung-or more relaxed rational guy? How much do you make on this farm every year?
Without knowing him I would talk to insurance company and find out total cost-then approach him about splitting it. Also you insurance rates likely to do up just for having a claim-is that worth it?
