Garland Maine
Our now retired insurance agent explained how this should work a time or two.

You have insurance on your stuff. If something happens to it you make a claim against your insurance and they will handle the claim.

If your insurance company believes that someone else is at fault then YOUR insurance company will try and recoup their loss from the responsible insurance company.

In this case it might be the landowners insurance.

Or who did the landowner hire to cut that post? A contractor might have insurance for such things.

This let's you remain stress free. You hand the bill to your insurance, and they push their paperwork around. You don't have to get confrontational with anyone else, and just refer them to your insurance company.
