Near-north Ontario, French River | The local greenhouse 'farm" , that has multiple complexes in the area, is our towns biggest employer, something like 1200 people, and they aren't all off shore labour. There's probably 20 or more tractor trailer loads leaving the complex across the road from us every day. Its a HUGE industry here. As of last year there was roughly 2100 acres under glass, and of that I'd gamble that 80-85% is located within Essex County, predominately around Kingsville and Leamington. Sales , according to google were in the $3.3 BILLION range. |
