Subject: Thinking about starting a dairy

Clay county, MN
I'm Thinking bout getting into the dairy business. I grew up helping my uncle and grandpa on their dairy farm as well as a couple summers for a big operation in high school. I'm 30 yrs old now with a job at coop and farming corn and beans on the side. Really want to work for myself. If I do it I want to do it right the first time. I'm Thinking along the lines of a new 120 cow barn with robot milkers. This would eliminate my least favorite job of milking and allow me more flexibility to do the other operations pretty much by myself (chores, putting up hay, planting and harvesting) . Having a new setup could also make expansion easier. have friends that milk 50 or so head and do ok on their older barns but there are really no other older barns that could be used around. There is a guy from Thunder Bay on this site that has a really nice setup along the lines I'm thinking. I know the dedication and hard work it takes and I enjoy it

Am I crazy? TIA
