Casey Iowa
We own & farm both CSR’s that you are talking……different soils I’m sure since I believe we are in different parts of Iowa. We just bought farms with similar CSR’s as well in the last 4 months……..the $’s per CSR were a little lower on the lower CSR ground……but in your trades scenario I would agree with you using the same $’s per tillable CSR……I’m assuming you used a Surety/Agridata on the 1/2 section to go around the terraces, & crick & waterways & such……that’s the only thing I would really be sure of is the real tillable acres. After that I think you are making sense to do the trade. Sounds like a bunch of response have never got the chance to farm heavier clay sloping fields before & figured out how to make it yield within 20% of the 80 CSR dirt……heck we have mid 80’s CSR soil that yields less in a damper June-July year than 48-58 CSR farms sometimes……10 year averages the 80 some CSR dirt will be 20% more in yield possibly…..possibly only 15%.

Good luck with trade!!
