The half section butts up to a section of ground that is owned by me and 3 other family members. It was divided by a dirt road but the county took that out a few years ago. So this would make over 900 acres in one piece.
Now don't get me wrong 900 acres in 1 piece is "cool" but cool doesn't pay bills and owning it or not doesn't change the way rows would land very much.
Taxes per acre are similar enough to not matter.
It's a little more yellow clay on 2 side hills and rolling but with liquid and composted cattle manure you can manage these types of farms well. I've farmed the section next to it my whole life so I'm familiar with managing these types of farms.
Advantages for trade would be no commercial fertilizer cost and be able to use it for feed. The crick that runs through it matches up to my crick on our own ground and that's all pastured so this could be pastured also.
I'm going to have to sit and really do the math on input and yield expectations to get a real feel | |
