Northern Nebraska | I wouldn't call high fructose corn syrup an artificial sweetener nor a poison If you are over 18.
The only proven health problem caused by fructose I know if is that if children eat foods with high fructose to glucose ratios they are more apt to develop asthma.
The only thing adults have to worry about is that our body is dumb and tries to adsorb equal amounts of glucose to fructose. So if the fructose level of a food or shrink is higher we end up with free fructose floating around in our blood. That gets deposited as fat.
It's not just corn syrup. Apples, pears and honey especially tupelo honey and locust tree honey are nearly as bad as corn syrup for their fructose to glucose levels. | |
