In 30 years from continuous corn and plowing on my dads farm organic matter went from 1 something to 3 something. We never had any pasture much over 1 percent. Does anyone have any soil tests after 20-30 years of no till showing that much increase?? Yes you can make the soil worst if you do not manage it when you plow or chisel.
