Subject: RE: what if carbon does not collect as thought/intended?

West Union, IOWA FLOLO Farm 52175

I’ll be the first to admit,I was skeptical when the first round Carbon exchange stuff started....

I was sorta excited when this round of carbon markets was brought up....but have veered back to the skeptical, cause measuring carbon seems to be a moving target?  And...these companies are having a hard time holding up there promises. Now with .gov potentially getting involved....I’m thinking “oh crap....when has government involvement been a good thing?”

with that on the table, I’ll say the issue I have with the study cited.....they used alfalfa,

yes it’s deep rooted

yes it works In the rotation

but it’s also a legume.... producing nitrogen

If I understand it right....it all comes down to c:n ratio

the more nitrogen you have present the more carbon you will burn?

It would be interesting if they ran the study with a deep rooted non legume? But that me....
