Seymour, IL | I was not intending to suggest we should not be trying to improve.
Most producers/landowners I know are constantly trying to improve, and often through small scale experiments before large scale.
Part of the reason for the question, (and as I stated, found this while trying to do some carbon research specifically)
There are numerous choices we have in a production function....and there has been significant discussion and publication across a whole range of things that would fall within the soil health continuum, and why that is advantageous.
The question at hand was 'what if implementing the change actually produces no change'?
all studies have limitations; however one of the things I was particularly impressed with in this study was the length. Good long term studies are hard to find.
Just because a finding is contrary to what may have been expected is not a reason to reject a finding. further study is required. But we all tend to want fast answers.
have a great day.
