ISU is right, carbon is collected in the soybeans/corn rotation. Check soil test fertility history. Minimum tillage keeps much of the organic on top of the so it can decay and wash off faster. I wish I could find the articles about how ISU suggests that even in minimum tillage the nutrients collect on top or on the upper surface of the soil and if you work it under every so often you will lose less nutrients due to run off. Rain forest soils are poor, why??
