Pittsburg, Kansas | People can have "normal " fasting blood glucose levels for years even with significant insulin resistance . They only find out they have a problem when their pancreas can no longer put out enough insulin to shove glucose into unwilling cells that their fasting glucose levels rise and they are diagnosed pre-diabetic or full blown diabetes.
A fasting insulin blood test or glucose tolerance test will tell the tale. Most people should have found out ten years earlier that they were running into a problem, but never get the proper test to alert them.
Then there is the problem of what to do about it once a person knows. Old dietary advice was abysmal. I know, I Lived it. Low carb and getting rid of vegetable oils solved my health and diet problems.
