Alpha, MN | Even the Pipestone guys don’t “make a living “ on 200 ewes and the ones that do are ~750+ head with a packer contract. 200 head is a nice side hustle at best. Yes it makes decent money and yes with the right set up it doesn’t take much to manage but with such small numbers they won’t have much to live on. I have 150 ewes and I still have to buy/feed groups with a packer contract to pay the mortgage, pay for hired help, update equipment, and work out of state to keep my head above water to live a decent life. | |
