MN | Mrs geargrinder here. 1993 was first year we farmed. Husband quit his town job to start farming full time. Brand new baby so I kept working for living money and still working in town. Corn got planted but had to clean opening discs and press wheels after a couple rounds with a paint scraper. Beans planted with fertilizer spreader and field cultivated in. Corn all 0-92 ran down with the disc. Beans mostly zeroed out but had to harvest one field for crop adjuster and ended up with 40 bushels total. Had to buy feed corn in town for farrow to finish hogs and it was light test weight. Froze early so was glad we 0-92. After that year figured if we didn't starve we were doing ok. Still won't forward contract grain because know we could have next to nothing. | |
