Sounds like Im in a similar situation as you. I like to forward sell most of my crop, but I do have storage for a small percentage.

The elevators take more bushels away from you at harvest. Even if you contracted a higher price, they usually find a way to get some of those bushels from you.

Bins allow you to harvest when the elevators are shutdown. You can harvest around the clock and on weekends and holidays.

You have the abilty to blend the grain and dry if you have an air floor with fans. I dried my corn last year down from 20% to 14.5% for less than 5 cents/bu with air. Electrical bill wasnt bad at all. Taxes are pretty negligible. Biggest cost is upfront on the ground prep, materials and labor. I would say worst case scenario you break even if you are hedged. You should be able to pickup 35-50 cents/bu. Always calculate your cost of carry though.
