It would help if you could give more details such as if there is a difference in soil type between your farm and the new farm, the crop rotation, did the former operator(s) leave residue cover on the soil, was they doing field operation's when the soil was wet? ect.
In a 40" anual rainfall area it is nearly impossible to go 3 straight years without doing at least some field activities in wet or less than ideal conditions. About 1 out every 5 years notilled ground doesnt dry out enough to get planted until mid june compared to mid may for conventional. The benefits of notill wont come close to making up for later planting like that. Not for sure OP has same soils as us but weather would alline fairly close.
