Subject: RE: Hard no-till ground

Nc Ks.
I've tried all ways in my 44 years. From the old plow everything/clean till to less tillage and then to no-till. Now I am among many of my neighbors, going back to some tillage. Why? Cost of fighting resistant weeds mainly. I've seen advantages and disadvantages of everything I've done over the years. Going to no-till and total reliance on chemical weed control I feel accelerated our resistant weed problem. Yes, I know, it was all our own fault for-----list the reasons. I've been told it's too expensive to do tillage. I've also been told I need to have a cover crop growing at all times. Buying more seed and covering all the acres with a drill twice a year isn't exactly cheap. Like I said, advantages and disadvantages to everything. My main goal is to try and do what nets me the most money.
