I'm saying zones for lime in my area because I'm using soil types. So for example, light soil around here is lower organic matter with higher clay content and doesn't require as much. Ph levels don't drop as fast and may have a different buffer ph to get you to optimum soil ph. Our darker soil has higher organic matter and ph levels drop faster. It also may require a different buffer ph to raise soil ph to optimum. 2.5 acre grids could work for this but very expensive and possibly could mix soil types together. So I prefer zones. It kinda simplifies things and sometimes for me I need to do that.

Ah gotcha, I guess I have never thought about different soil types needing more lime, I am guessing that is whats happening in my soils too, Makes sense.
