Subject: VRT fertilizer recs based on ZONES and not GRIDS?

Illinois

I was in a grower meeting last week and the guy presenting said that VRT spreading on GPS grids is wasted use of new technology. He suggested VRT recs need to be set up by zones.
Who all is doing this?
How are you setting up your zones? By Soil type or Organic Matter?
How are you setting up your VRT recs?

This just sparked my interest to look into it more..
