I came back to grad school after 12 years away from home, 8 in active duty Marine Corps service. The college kids in the school of Ag in 2012 were spoiled rotten. They all drove new trucks and bragged about whatever brand of equipment. All they knew was an agricultural gold mine. They were in for a rude awakening. We knew this would happen. Getting rich in Ag is not the norm and never will be. We have rural flight for a reason: periodic hardship is no fun. However, if a person didn't see that coming and didn't prepare for the tough times during the good times, shame on you. We've been doing one of the most unforgiving jobs in some of the most unforgiving places, we know better. Furthermore, let the coffee shop crowd bitch that's why they're in the coffee shop. Hardship is integral to our profession.
+1. Its all in how you prepare your self for the up swings and the down swings. |
