Subject: RE: corn piles

Osakis, MN
I know of very few people here locally that had a large percentage of their 2013 corn crop sold for fall delivery compared to the 2012 crop year. I'd say there was a huge incentive to haul (dry) corn in 2012 from the field straight to the elevator, passing the bin site up on the way to the cash machine, (elevator). This year no good reason to give the (WET) corn away with drying costs and shrinkage, and once you unloaded at the bin site and dryed it you might as well bin it! I personally harvested close to 60 bu. per acre less corn this year than last. If I'm not the only one, there are still empty bins all over the area. And still no piles!
