Ripley, Ontario Canada | I have to say I have mortgage payments, they require crop to be sold and delivered for payments. That means go when you can. Here continuous no till really doesn't work well and tillage is usually part of the rotation. I think some people in some places get too hung up on the no till religion. It is ok sometimes to have a cookie, or in this case do some tillage. If the only problem I had here this fall was doing a bit of compaction I wouldn't be complaining. Here we are deciding if the 18 inch ruts will get filled in with the plow or not, and how hard to push the standing water without needing a hi hoe in the field to retrieve the combine if you go too far. We have had 10 inches of rain in the last 2 weeks and 20 miles away they got 4 inches of snow today, snow can fall now here and stay all winter. Field damage can be repaired if you have a crop to sell. | |
