Tamworth NSW Australia | Yes they collect rain water from the roof. We have gutters that catch all the run off and direct it into the tanks, then an electric pressure pump to feed water to the house. We don't have snow or ice so no worries about tearing the gutters off. Very typical of all houses in rural Australia and most sheds will also have tanks, you can never have too much fresh water storage.
