While you are comparing situations,  let's throw another example in the mix:  George Zimmerman.

As I understand, George had a permit to carry.  That was a one-on-one situation.  George didn't use it/ pull it until as a last resort.  And look at what kind of mess he is in.  

You know, if George had not been carrying his weapon that night,  I believe there would be two people alive - not one.  One of them might have had the crap beaten out of them, and I am not sure which one, but Travon Martin was not carrying a weapon. If George did not have his one, no one would have gotten shot.  

I am sure there are some who are going to argue the point on this about George.  I'm just pointing out that carrying his weapon did not make life any better for George.
