DeKalb, IL | Do you work whenever and at whatever you choose, or does your 'employer' govern your work hours and assignments? If the former, you may be an independent contractor; if the latter, you are probably an employee. Ownership of equipment doesn't necessarily determine whether or not you're a contractor. But, from the tone of your post, it would appear that you're working for someone who's trying to skip over some costs of being an employer, but would have a challenge meeting the IRS requirements for declaring you to be an independent contractor. | |
