Subject: RE: The whole convoy scenario--

No, maintain safety on the highway.

Regarding the question of intervals....the military information I read says that convoys should mainting 50-100 meters between vehicles at highway speeds (45-50 mph) and closer intervals at lower speeds or in congested areas.  This was in the context of mobility moves within the United States, and I seriously doubt that there was any security element involved.

If they were convoying for training purposes, as you contend, they would be running the convoys the way they would in indian country.  Trust me, from what I have been told by someone with a fair bit of security and route clearance experience in Iraq, that would not go over well at all stateside.  The average yuppy wanna-be hippy from Spokane is not going to stand for being pushed off the road because he can't follow instructions..and that's not to even mention the .50 engine stopper.
