NEIN | That action would put them in the dumb business class. The idea of crop insurance is to reduce the farmers risk by giving him options. PP is one of those options that requires a business decision (risk vs reward) on a given date as to whether to plant corn late, plant beans (or some other crop), or file PP. As it now stands in our area, the PP looks very good since we went from the wettest May on record to the driest June and new crop prices collapsed. Should we punish guys who buy higher levels of coverage too? I mean after all, they may collect even more than they "should". If you don't like crop insurance don't buy it. If you think the program should be done away with, like myself, lobby for that, but don't gripe because someone uses it to their fullest advantage. | |
