“These are the times that try men's souls.”
I used to carry insurance on my grain up until 08'. My insurance company, and John Deere insurance under wrote with AIG. They really burned me. I packed insurance all those years, never made a claim. In 06' I had a loss, the adjuster from JD came out reviewed records. Said okay you have a loss, they paid me. I felt great about it. The spring of 08' they called and said they over paid me, they wanted their money back. I said whose screw up was it, mine or theirs? Get this, they told me I didn't defraud them, and they didn't mess up! They just over paid me. I told them the money had been spent, if they had come to me within thirty days I could have accepted it, but two years later! I asked were their errors and omissions insurance was on their adjuster? They told me he didn't need it!

I told them, okay I would pay them back, if they would let me drop my crop insurance for that year 08'. They said no way! I didn't give proper notice in time to drop it. I told them I didn't want to be involved with them anymore. They wanted their money back, and that years premium( by the way grain went thru the roof that year, my premiums doubled that year!) They told me I would be blackballed from all programs till it was payed back. Livestock programs as well. I told them, I could do like most crooks do, and do a name change and put it all in wife's name or somebody else. And they couldn't touch me. I even called the RMA, FSA, my insurance agent. I couldn't get a straight answer from any of them! I payed them back, and even 08' premiums. It left a bitter taste in my mouth!

At the same time I was having a problem with JD dealer with a warranty on a JD manure spreader. We had a lifetime warranty on the sides. At first they said we didn't, I showed them in the operator's manual yes we did have a warranty. They then said ok, but we don't have the sides, and we can't build them anymore. So I said you can buy us out of the warranty or just trade us a riding lawn mower for it. They kept stalling till Dec. 09' on it. We signed off on the warranty in Dec. 09'. They said money would be in our account at local JD store in a week or two. As of three weeks ago it still wasn't in our account! I told them I wouldn't expect them to hurry, as they drug their feet on it all that time! If I do get the money I'm going to take it and buy a mower from Agco dealer!

We used to have a lot of JD stuff here, I just don't think I will ever buy equipment from them again. I was told the JD insurance co. and the equipment co. were different, I called B.S.! They still all run under the same Deere logo!

In twenty years time of having crop insurance, I would have been better off self insuring myself. I don't sell grain, raise it to feed my milk cows. I'm better of taking premium money and just buying grain, than paying premiums.
