In Illinois there’s the marketing board and growers board. I believe marketing board collects checkoff and uses that money. There’s things they can’t use that money for. Neither you or I know how Iowa does it.


I do know how Iowa does it. I am talking about the corn promotion board in Iowa, which collects the check off and pays for the multi million dollar sponsorships of athletic events. The Iowa Corn Promotion Board and The Iowa Corn Growers Association are closely aligned organizations that share staff and office space, they may technically be separate but it is long standing practice for board members to shift from one entity to the other. Iowa Corn has not had a CEO turnover in almost 25 years, the board lacks any real type of oversight, just as long as the free tickets and trips keep coming.
