I cannot speak for Iowa but they might not be paying what you think for tickets, promotions ect with checkoff dollars. Some things are grants, donations or promotions. If you want an overhaul of the system you would need to get involved. Might want to change your approach though. By the time you donate several days to meetings ect a year your feelings towards the guy who got a $15 lunch might change. I’m not on any of the boards but am glad there are people who are.
Iowa Corn spends around $2 million a year to sponsor Iowa and Iowa State Athletics. That is where the free suite tickets come from for board members and employees. Iowa Corn also just entered into a multi million dollar sponsorship with NASCAR.
