 Southeast Colorado | We do all crop shares in this highly variable production area. A lot of years if I get back a return equal to custom rates I'm happy. Some years we don't get that back and call that an education. Once in a while............one in 5 years we hit a home run. Most of the time renting land is just my justification for purchasing a little better machinery to use on our owned acres. So I guess long story short.............we'll farm for ZERO return on the land with your above scenario. And by the way, I don't actively search out rental acres.
