| My dad was very conscious of this. When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s he would never go into to town to go to the bank or buying parts or whatever without first washing up and changing into clean clothes. He only had a 7th grade education but did not want to look the part of the dumb hick farmer. That lack of formal education drove him to a lifetime of reading and seeking knowledge, He was one of the wisest people I have ever known. | |
