just be thankful you dad is still around. it won't always be that way. very few farmers i know will wait when the crop is ready. probably from a bad experience from thinking they had more time than they had.
i had a neighbor that lost 160 acres of beans because he thought he had plenty of time. snowed early and stayed until spring. beans completely flat. the lesson is when you can go, you go.
