well in fairness you are right that they are a guessing game in the exactness and timing. I can't say when for sure the FED is going to let them rise a little, but the market is / has been trying to do the job. that's why the FED keeps upping the ante.

But the thing about the 30 years of wasteful war and other US administration spending, and its resulting pressure forcing the FED's hand for the resulting punishment of savers in that category of cash GIC's T-Bills and CD's, is that it actually makes interest rates more predicable. There is a reason why older people and savers have been punished - the fed has held the rate there. And it will continue to do so, as long as the US debt continues to spiral higher. So, that takes a lot of the guessing out of it i think. Also, there is a multi-trillion dollar debt market out there that exists on a little more than guessing I would hope!
