david: get an associates degree in business with a concentration in accounting in your spare time. there are 168 hours in a week. if you're under 40 you only need about 30 hours of them for sleep so you have plenty of time. I been there and done it. one of the things you'll learn is that the tax code is set up for entreprenuership and that you will be money ahead to work for yourself(i.e. contractor). the kicker is with an understanding of the concepts taught in basic business courses you would have a better shot at building, and successfully running, your own farm someday. one of these days it's going to take more than being born with the right parents or simply borrowing a ton of money from Farm Credit to be a farmer. there is a world of opportunity out there ahead for hardworking knowledgable business people. good luck to you.
