Subject: Re: Prevent Plant bailout

Leesburg, Ohio
My understanding is that Ironwood is correct...if you turn in a prevented planting report within 72 hours after June 5 (the final planting date in Ohio) they cannot deny PP coverage. Only the farmer can make the decision by that date to plant or not, the adjuster has no say as long as the rules are followed.

Now, if there was no report turned in by 72 hours after the final planting date, then it's a different deal, and maybe no PP coverage at all. If corn is planted after the final planting date (during the "late planting period") then regular insurance coverage goes down 1% per day for the next 25 days, then after that date, no coverage period.
