Subject: Employee Compensation

IL
Hello, I am currently a part-time employee/farmhand and had some questions in reference to employee compensation. First off let me give some background information. I am currently receiving and hourly wage, and receiving a 1099 form at the end of the year. I have never had experience with this kind of tax return and was wondering if this was the same way that other farmers set up tax returns for employees? After doing research, I have found that typically a 1099 tax form is used for independent contractors and not employee's. I am not a contractor as I do not work for myself, nor do I use my own equipment/tools. Is there any way around my employer mailing me this 1099 and setting up a different tax system where I don't end up getting taken to the cleaners at the end of the year? Any replies will be much appreciated.
