Yup, I’ve said on here many times all a person has to sell is their time. A guy needs to carve out the very best 8 hours a day he/she has and put them to the very highest economic value. What you do with the remaining 16 hours isn’t nearly as important, from a purely economic standpoint.. Could even donate a “second shift” of 8 hours on the farm to maintain the “lifestyle” aspect. But, to use the worn out cliche’, “At the end of the day”, a person needs to make some meaningful money in today’s world. Right now, a decent paying 40 hour off farm job with full benefits beats those same 40 hours spent on the farm seven ways from Sunday. All that being said, it’s still the best opportunity I’ve seen in two or three decades for a young person to get started, coupled with off farm income/benefits. Won’t be instant gratification, but being able to buy good usable equipment the big guys wouldn’t be caught dead running is an absolute bargain today.
