NW Illinois Stephenson county | Many many years ago I saw a show on PBS about honey bees. It must have been out west somewhere. They had big trailers with hives in them. An alfalfa seed producer would call them to pollinate the field and they would pull the trailers out to the field early in the morning and open up the sides to allow the bees to do their job. Then they would come back in the evening and close the sides of the trailers back up. If the field was to be sprayed they would take the trailers with them to keep the bees out of harms way. I could not find that particular show, but here are links to 2 bee you tubes.
A bee's story in first minute a guy has a major hand full of bees. WARNING, contains bee sex!; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPRW56M_tXo
Another bee's story; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtKqic69xVo
One time I had tens of thousands of bees spend three days in a group of trees near my house, maybe they were in the process of moving to another location. Another time I was rounding up the cows to milk out in a 3 acre lot and I heard a major buzzing. Coming towards me was a 16-20 foot in diameter swarm traveling 10-15 MPH. I just stood there and they passed around me and not one bee hit me! Go bees!!!
