NW South Dakota | I was visiting with one of our local bee keepers at the tavern last summer and he told me you have to get paid a lot to pollinate trees in California because they don't make nearly as much honey and they lose several colonies. He also talked about doing an experiment with pollinating a canola field for a grower. It was a lot of work moving the large number of hives and they basically had to surround the field with hives. They were comparing this field with a control several miles away.......not truly scientific but neat that he was willing to work with a producer for a project like this. I don't know how it turned out. | |
